Julianne Begay is an Attorney for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe in Ignacio, CO. Julianne has represented the Tribe for the past 6.5 years as both an associate for Mayens, Bradford, Shipps and Sheftel, LLP in Durango, CO and as an in-house attorney in the Tribe’s Legal Department. Julianne represents the Tribe on variety of ussies, including aspects of federal Indian law and Tribal law. Her main areas of practice have been environmental law and child welfare law. Julianne graduated from Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in 2015 and is licensed to practice in Arizona and Colorado. Julianne is active in her community and currently serves as the President of the Southwest Colorado Bar Association and she volunteers as CSA for children in dependency and neglect cases. Julianne devotes her time outside of work to learning the Navajo Language.
